Conferences, Writing, and more

Posted on April 9, 2017 at 12:55 AM

Hi Everyone,

Right now I'm doing a lot of work. I have a dozen outlines for books, but one is in writing mode and that is Book 3 in the Arnhem Knights of New York series. I would have loved to say it's finished, but it's not. The history in it is immense! So is the romance! Getting used to another time and another country is quite the experience.

I'm setting up my conferences. So far I have Confluence in Pittsburgh in August and Fall in Love with New England Romance Readers/Author Conference in October. Confluence is a science fiction and fantasy conference. Fall in Love with New England is the cozy and happy readers/authors conference with great panels, time to hang out with authors, make new friends, great booksigning, and fun events. If you love romance and want to hang out with us, be sure to register before it fills up.

Here are their links:

I am trying to eliminate unnecessary sugar from my diet. It's hard. Have you read labels? In the US, we put sugar or corn syrup into almost everything. So i'm trying to eat fresher and have no desserts. (I will make an exception for the Fall in Love conference for a desert.)

Right now I'm setting up Easter baskets for my grandchildren.

How is everyone else?

Under the Weather but Sent in First Edits

Posted on January 28, 2013 at 8:20 PM

Hi,

I'm back from Arisia in Boston and became seriously ill.  With two weeks out from the conference and my world having grown silent, an eye, nose, and throat doctor is now the case.  I see him again on Monday and I'm hoping with the new prescription to have made some progress.

Fortunately for me, before I left for Boston I emailed in the edits to my editor.  So very glad I did that.  Because edits need a clear head.

Valentine's Day is the birthday of Nights of Passion blog http://nightsofpassion.wordpress.com, and a little bird told me that one of our new authors on staff will be doing a special giveaway, so you won't want to miss that.

I've leapt into another book while my editor is working.  It's good to keep rolling albeit slowly as I'm under the weather.  But I'll get better and then there will be another powerful romance book!  YAY!

What's Happening! Conventions and New Book with New Publisher

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 6:10 PM

Dear Readers and Visitors,

I've just come back from Albacon in Latham, NY.  It was a very successful con.  I spoke on a lot of panels, had a signing and two readings.

My next con will be Arisia in Boston on Martin Luther King weekend.  The panels list is still in development.

In the meantime, I have exciting news.  I signed a contract with Soul Mate Publishing for the first book in a new vampire/supernatural series.  I have an editor and am deep in edits.

I love editors.  A great editor helps make a book really shine.

When I have more information like title, cover, and release dates, I will post that here.

As the holidays get closer, I will be having more and more guests and contests on Nights of Passion blog.  We're going to be really rocking, so please, drop by.

I love the fall and cuddling up with the edits of a new book.  YAY!

Hope everything is going well with you.

Return from Authors After Dark

Posted on August 14, 2011 at 10:05 PM

I'm back from Authors After Dark in Philadelphia, and I'm absolutely whipped into the ground.  Hours after hours of bumper to bumper traffic in the pouring rain and fog.  The convention was awesome.  Interesting and fun stuff happened.  I also had laryngitis during the event.  Fortunately when I lost my voice on Friday, I had no panels to speak on.  By Saturday, it was back but scratchy.  The ride home knocked the socks off me.

As for the goals, I may have lost a little weight not wanting to eat much with my sore throat.  I don't recommend losing weight this way.  Also getting sick hasn't helped with the writing.  I did manage to write the beginning to a new story.  I edited a little.

On the flip side of the author's life is meeting people which is a blast.  I met a lot of people at the convention and booksigning.  More on the happenings later.

Goals: Always Move Forward

Posted on July 19, 2011 at 5:49 PM

I've been doing well.  Most days I average 1000 words.  One day I did 2000, but the next I did 500.  Right now I am 4500 words from the end of my newest vampire/supernatural adventure romance novel.

Exercise?  Kickboxed twice last week and walked one day.  I've been glued to the computer trying to finish the book.

Preparing for the Authors After Dark Convention?  I have my steampunk costume almost done.  I need footwear and some accessories.   But for the second costume, I'm starting from scratch.

If you can't do everything, forgive yourself and start again the next day.  Goals are challenging.  :-)  You're worth the challenge.  Hang in there and so will I.

Goals on Monday--Change Can Happen

Posted on June 13, 2011 at 11:19 AM

I was under the weather for part of Saturday but that didn't stop me as soon as I felt better I was writing.  I wrote 3000 words, which roughly translate to 15 pages.  Didn't feel up to exercising.  Sunday was a day filled with church and family.  I did take a nap when I got home.  I wrote a bare 200 words.

Monday is a new day filled with promise.  I'll exercise shortly and then I aim to write a 1000 or more.  But right now I have a new goal three.

Goal three:  I'm packing promo materials and prizes into a suitcase for Authors After Dark.  I'm taking inventory at the same time to see what I have and what I still have to get.  I have T-shirts and two lap writing desks, book covers to sign at the ebook signing, glass bead bracelets, keychains, lavender umbrellas.  Beaded book thongs .

Buy I love doing this kind of stuff.  It gets you all excited for the convention.
